Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion
Custom hydraulic system consisting of (4) 150 ton 36 inch stroke pull cylinders that was designed and supplied to launch crane onto a barge on the Elizabeth River. This crane was to assist in the beginning of the Tunnel Construction, the total distance the crane was launched was 150 ft . the most disfficult challenge was keeping all 4 cylinders within tolerance while siding it 36 inches at a time. Until it got i onto the barge. A 4 point synchronous manifold equipped with flow control valves made this possible , the crane safely launches onto the barge.
Our client safely and accurately slid the crane onto a barge using a 600 ton synchronous jacking system with four 150 ton pull-cylinders with a 36″ stroke.
Precision controlled raising or lowering of a tower crane. Digitally controlled monitoring and recording of movement, maintaining levelness and reducing internal stress.
Our client used an 800 ton synchronous jacking system, comprising of four 200 ton 9ft stroke double-acting jacks and was able to raise and lower the tower safely into place.
Using a 2000 ton synchronous, jacking system consisting of eight 250 ton 12 inch stroke double-acting cylinders our client was able to raise the crane 24 inches whilst maintaining a 1/8″ tolerance across all eight jacks.
The old slew bearing was removed and replaced. The crane was then lowered back down maintaining the same 1/8″ tolerance.
